FORTH – JAN 2014
Dad, Ann Marie and myself out for a day on the Forth. Touring down to Aberdour, then Newhaven and back. Didn’t stop for chips this time though 🙁
LARGS TO PORTAVADIE – SEPT 2013
We missed the rib.net cruise from Largs to Portavadie that was took place in August, but really wanted to do the trip. So, ended up being Anna and myself that went. Plan was simple, trailer over to Largs, launch, head north of Cumbrae towards Bute, through the Kyles, round Ardlamont point before heading up to Tarbert and Portavadie.
Took a video of the adventure –
The Saturday morning leaving Portavadie was absolutely mirror calm, great weather, we were chuffed to bits that the weather gods were being nice. Plan was to head south, over to Lochranza on Arran for a spot of lunch. Had very pleasant burger sat outside in the sun before taking the long route back to Largs via the Kyles, then round south of Cumbrae into Millport. The scene in Millport was of a summer day, with loads of people on the beach, bouncy castles etc – bizarre.
FORTH – AUGUST 2013
Trip out in the Forth with Sara, Scott, Anna, Mike and myself. All went well heading East up Fife coast, then back via InchKeith to Newhaven. Quick food stop at Newhaven, then it all went a bit Pete Tong. We had to run diagonally downwind through a fairly nasty chop, which resulted in a lot of water over the boat – most of which seemed to end up over Sara and Scott. Apparently I’m a sworn enemy now

This is the video of our return trip from Tobermory to Oban on the Sunday. Bit damp, but we made lunch in warm pub in Tobermory all the more enjoyable 😉

NEW YEARS DAY – 1ST JAN 2013
So, got the RIB ‘ELLANJAY III’ between xmas and new years 2012. After a monumental drive up from Exeter to Edinburgh we were ready to try the boat. 1st launch was a bit tedious – too many ‘what if’s’ – will the engines work, are there any issues, will it float etc…
However, after that, we were ready to enjoy the New Year celebrations at South Queensferry, where there is a loony dook every year. Basically, people dress up in fancy dress and enter the receptive waters of South Queensferry Bay for charity. We took a video, as the weather was great, but sadly you can’t really see all the dookers in the bay as too far away.
Here is another video – and you can just see us in the distance in the first part of the video – we didn’t want to get too close and crash the party – and the prop 😉
